Original Wood Fish Carvings

Original wood fish carvings; each piece is unique, carved and painted by hand by our Alaskan artists. 
We create individual pieces offered for purchase, and we also accept a limited number of custom commissions each year. 
To create a carving, we use multiple reference photos of the species to create a pattern. We then sketch out a variety of poses for the optimal display with a sculpted habitat. Each fish is carved to include realistic shape, pose and fins as if flowing in water. 
We use select clear grained kiln dried basswood. Habitats are often carved from leftover cutoffs from cutting out the fish, leaving hardly any waste.  
Hardwood oval bases can be engraved on the underside for commissioned pieces.
